Getting There:

For those planning to volunteer at the Rock 'n' Roll Half Marathon Water Station 3 located at Southbound Potomac River Freeway at the Freeway 66 West Off Ramp, here are some instructions to make your journey smoother:

Public Transportation:

The water station's location near the Potomac River Freeway makes it accessible via several public transportation routes. The closest Metro stations might be Foggy Bottom-GWU, serviced by the Blue, Orange, and Silver lines, and Farragut West. From there, you can walk to the location or catch a bus closer to the site if available. Always verify the Metro service schedule on the WMATA website for any changes during the event day.

Additional Tips:

  • Metro Bus Services: Depending on the day and time, certain bus routes may offer a convenient way to get closer to the event location. Check the WMATA website for bus schedules and routes.
  • Biking: For local volunteers, consider biking to the event. Washington, DC, is bike-friendly, with several bike-share programs available.

Parking and Drop-Off Instructions:

Given the specific location of the water station, direct parking options may be limited due to the nature of freeway and off-ramp areas. Volunteers should consider parking in nearby neighborhoods or parking garages and then walking to the location. It's crucial to check local parking restrictions and availability in advance. For special events like marathons, some streets might have temporary parking restrictions, so look for any posted signs or check the District Department of Transportation for updates.

Please note that for large events like the half marathon, there might be road closures or rerouted traffic, which could affect your travel plans. Planning your route in advance and allowing extra travel time is advisable. Always refer to the latest updates from the event organizers and local transportation authorities to ensure a smooth experience.
